Gears sorted

Postby Bruce on Mon Oct 05, 2009 2:42 pm

As about the least technical person in the history of VW ownership, I feel nervous and a little giddy even being in the "How To/Tech Section".
Since buying Barney, gear changing has been dodgy, and deteriorated to the point where I could not select reverse at all - leading to some very careful driving making sure I didnt get into a "reversing situation", then a few weeks off the road.
After much dithering, we invested in the Just Kampers gear refurb bundle with the Scat gear shift. Gear changing is now spot on (at the risk of upsetting people, gear changing feels like its a new car!) and the love of driving Barney has been re-kindled.
From talking to a few people it appears that gears can be a dodgy area - if so I can full recomend that bundle.
Now, in terms of "how to", I recomend you get somebody else to install it - like I did.

Regards
Bruce
